We have heard the terms “sustainable energy,” “conservation,” and “alternative energy” all too often lately. But what about efficient energy? Some people may think that efficient is the same as conservative; however, conservative means cutting back and efficient means smarter.
According to an article on Time.com, energy smart ideas are not just doing things like turning down the heat or turning off lights when not in use. Energy smart ideas are using more energy efficient machinery, such as energy efficient vehicles, appliances and even those funky CFC light bulbs that last longer than any traditional fluorescent bulb. The article also states that because our nation is producing more of these energy smart products, “the efficiency gains we’ve made since the last energy crisis, in 1973, our economy would use nearly 50% more energy today.”
We still need to implement more energy smart ideas so that we become less dependent on foreign oil, coal, nuclear energy and other sources that eventually cost consumers more.
